The SS15 fashion season is in full swing and if the latest runway collections are anything to go by, Summer is going to be full of bold colours, dreamful denim, flirty florals, patchworks of vintage prints, boho chic and more. It’s a whirlwind of ideas this season, but don’t panic, we’re on hand to give you the low-down on the 6 key fashion trends for SS15 that you really need to know about.
1 // SPORTS LUXE
Sports Luxe has been trending for the last few seasons, but it’s making an ever more sophisticated reappearance in the fashion world. Chanel and Tommy Hilfiger are just a couple of top designers that have incorporated the laid-back-turned-sophisticated style in to their SS15 collections. And it’s easy to see why, Sports Luxe is a versatile style that can be enjoyed by everyone as it’s perfect for a trip to the shops, a day out, work or even a night out with the girls.
2 // DENIM
Denim is a versatile style staple for every wardrobe and this season sees the return of the double denim look. Both Stella McCartney and Gucci went all out with their denim delights for SS15 and we’re not just talking about jeans, although high-waisted, denim flares are oh-so 2015. The catwalk crushed on denim like never before, so it’s safe to say that our fave fabric’s future is anything but basic.
3 // ALL WHITE
White is the new black it seems if the SS15 catwalks are anything to go by, with designers like Alexander Wang, Victoria Beckham and Chloe all championing the clean colour and showing a whole host of new ways to wear the trend.
4 // FOLKLORE
The previous season saw designers delve into fantasy lands, fables and fairytales. The warmer months continue these fashion trends but with a lighter, brighter vision. Think embellished jackets, flock prints and midi dresses, layered with printed scarves and chunky belts.
5 // 70’S
The seventies are back with a vengeance and this time in the form of suede; both Chanel and Chloe went with feminine pastel pink shades in their SS15 collections. Taking inspiration from The Beatles, Tommy Hilfiger went for fringing and florals while Saint Laurent’s rock swagger set the tone with A-line minis and swirl flares.
6 // FUTURISTIC
Step into the future with this sharp, edgy, post-modern fashion trend. Time travel seems to be in style this season, as 2015 runways witnessed a plethora of geometric shapes, bizarre colour combinations, metallic shimmers and out-of-this-world prints.
